Quest Diagnostics Foundation’s Investment Expands Community Wellness, Food Access, Seeking to Enhance Health Outcomes Across Miami-Dade County
Miami, FL – July 9, 2026
Collaboration is at the heart of creating healthier communities. Thanks to a more than $1 million investment from the Quest Diagnostics Foundation Urban Health Partnerships (UHP) is expanding the Food and Nutrition for All Collaborative (FNFA) to strengthen food access, community partnerships, and wellness initiatives across Miami-Dade County.
The Quest Diagnostics Foundation recently announced a commitment of nearly $5 million in grant funding to improve chronic disease prevention, maternal health, and food security in Miami-Dade County. Urban Health Partnerships is honored to be one of four nonprofit organizations selected to help lead this initiative, which aims to reach up to 15,000 residents over the next two years through expanded healthcare access, food and nutrition support, community-based services, and preventive health initiatives.
What This Investment Makes Possible
As the coordinating agency for the Food and Nutrition for All Collaborative, UHP will use this investment to advance the collaborative’s impact and reach an estimated 4,000 residents through UHP-led initiatives by:
- Strengthening the governance and long-term sustainability of the Food and Nutrition for All Collaborative.
- Awarding mini-grants to up to 16 grassroots and community organizations expanding food and nutrition access throughout Miami-Dade County.
- Coordinating 24 Community Wellness Days connecting residents with food resources, health education, screenings, and supportive services.
- Enhancing shared data infrastructure to improve collaboration, coordination, and measurement of community impact.
- Continuing building partnerships that connect residents with preventive healthcare, nutritious food, and essential community resources.
“Food access is not just about distribution; it’s about coordination, access, dignity, trust, care, and the environments where families live and thrive,” said Arely Lozano Cantú, Director of Health Access and Livability at Urban Health Partnerships. “With this investment from The Quest Diagnostics Foundation, we will strengthen the infrastructure that empowers communities across Miami-Dade County to access nutritious, local, and affordable food options, which is so critical to improving health and wellbeing.”
Stronger Together
Urban Health Partnerships is proud to take part in the Quest for Wellness Cohort alongside Florida International University Foundation, The Health Council of South Florida, and U.S. Hunger as part of a countywide initiative supported by the Quest Diagnostics Foundation. Together, the organizations will expand access to healthcare, nutritious food, maternal health resources, preventive screenings, and community-based services while building a stronger, more connected system of care across Miami-Dade County.
This investment reflects the power of collaboration to create lasting change. UHP’s community-driven action model aims to strengthen partnerships, support community organizations, and expand access to essential resources. Together with our partners, we are building healthier communities where more residents can connect to the resources they need to thrive.
