COMMUNITY LIAISON FRAMEWORK, AT A GLANCE
A PROGRAM BY URBAN HEALTH PARTNERSHIPS (UHP)
Urban Health Partnerships (UHP) offers the Community Liaison Framework to organizations seeking to strengthen community engagement and integrate resident voice into decision-making and programmatic efforts. Through this work, UHP builds the capacity of local organizations, institutions, and government entities by providing technical assistance, supervision, training, and engagement support to guide implementation and long-term sustainability.
The Community Liaison (CL) Framework is a structured, community-driven approach that supports systems-level change by strengthening how organizations engage with and learn from the communities they serve. This model builds stronger community networks that contribute to improved health and overall well-being.
As part of this approach, Community Liaisons are residents who are compensated for their time and expertise. This ensures participation is accessible and recognizes lived experience as equally valuable as technical knowledge.
The Community Liaison Framework is a model offered by Urban Health Partnerships that provides training, consulting, and implementation support for community engagement and systems change.
What We Offer
Through the Community Liaison Framework, UHP provides:
- Training and onboarding for Community Liaisons and partner organizations
- Ongoing technical assistance and one-on-one support
- Guidance on community engagement strategies and tools
- Support with data collection, synthesis, and insight development
- Facilitation of community meetings and engagement activities
- Implementation support for community-driven projects and initiatives
- Strategic advising to help organizations sustain long-term impact
What Community Liaisons Do
Through this model, Community Liaisons:
- Receive professional development and ongoing support to grow as community leaders
- Use tools such as community action planning, surveys, audits, and assessments
- Help organizations understand and respond to factors that influence community health
- Conduct community-centered engagement with residents and stakeholders
- Lead and support local initiatives and collaborative projects
- Activate community networks to increase participation and engagement
- Co-design and implement solutions with organizations and partners
