Miami-Dade County is Launching a New Mobility Initiative and We’d Love to Hear from You!

Miami-Dade County is working on a new initiative to engage residents in the process of bringing new mobility technologies to our community.
New mobility technology includes such innovations as delivery robots, autonomous shuttles, microtransit, and e-scooters. Miami-Dade County is piloting these new solutions, focusing on how they could be used to improve accessibility and mobility equity throughout the County.
Using a variety of community engagement methods, and with the help of 16 Community Liaisons to support outreach efforts, Urban Health Partnerships (UHP) and Ford Mobility’s City:One team will compile feedback that reflects the public’s vision for how these new mobility technologies could best be used in their neighborhoods, and where concerns and potential problems may arise. This ongoing feedback will be provided to the County and tech companies for their consideration in development and implementation of future mobility projects. This initiative is part of The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Supported Autonomous Vehicles Initiative, focused on putting residents at the center of self-driving vehicle projects in four U.S. cities.
Explore this project website to learn how you can participate! On the left you will find a segment to learn more about upcoming events, and under that a section featuring the community survey that can help inform this initiative. In the project menu, under “Share Insights”, there is an idea suggestion and discussion tool. Stay up to date on what we’re learning from the community survey and engagement efforts on the “What We’re Learning” page, also linked in the project menu above.
Focus Areas for Community Engagement
To better connect residents to the project, 16 Community Liaisons will work with communities throughout the County to support public outreach and engagement. The communities identified have been selected as representative of the diverse populations throughout the County with a particular emphasis on populations with increased transit and mobility needs. The Community Liaisons will engage in community outreach within their respective communities.

Even if you are not a resident of one of the specified communities above, anyone from Miami-Dade County is encouraged to participate in upcoming events.
Project Partners
The Miami-Dade County New Mobility Initiative is led by Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) in collaboration with Urban Health Partnerships and Ford City:One, as part of a Knight Foundation Supported Autonomous Vehicles Initiative.
